Pecan Nuts

Pecan nuts look remarkably similar to Walnuts but differ in a variety of ways. The taste of pecans is more sweet and they are normally a light brown colour. They are used plentifully in baking, the obvious example being the traditional Pecan Pie where these nuts are used in abundance to both flavour and decorate the finished product.

Pecans are a rich source of unsaturated fatty acids, and as such have a role in preventing cardiovascular disease.Pecans are also rich sources of bioactive components, such as plant sterols, anthocyanidins, and proanthocyanidin monomers, oligomers, and polymers.
