Our History
1990
H.B.S. Foods Ltd was formed by three company directors with many years of experience in the edible nut industry.
1994
The company relocated from its original factory in the West Midlands, to a new purpose-built 15,000 sqft factory in Netherton, west of Birmingham.
1999
Following the retirement of one of the founding directors, the company was taken over by the Hopcraft family.
2005
We installed our second roasting line, giving us greater flexibility for roasted products and enabling us to perfect our flaking and drying process.
2008
Our first laser sorting line was installed, raising the level of product quality and opening the door to supplying larger brands.
2011
With the steady growth of processing lines forcing urgent need for more space, we relocated all raw materials to a neighboring 15,000 sqft storage facility. This freed-up space in the process area for further expansion.
2015
After outgrowing the long-serving Netherton factory, the company acquired a plot of land less than a quarter of a mile away. “Nut Wharf” was constructed composing of a 22,000 sqft storage facility and a 20,000 sqft processing plant, with considerable yard space to cope with shipping containers and articulated vehicles.
2019
Further development took place at Nut Wharf when several extensions and external modifications were implemented to meet new demands and legislation of the food industry. These additions included a separate machinery wash-down facility, a storage building for site service equipment, and three airlocks on entrance and exit points.
